Private Instruction

Doug Mattingly, DMA is a seasoned musician and accomplished music educator with years of experience in the college classroom and private studio. He has taught guitar performance, recording technology, songwriting, improvisation, jazz theory, jazz composition, arranging for popular music, sight singing, music fundamentals, popular musicianship and theory, notation reading, music appreciation, jazz history, and world music.

College Prep

For those interested in pursuing careers as music professionals, Dr. Mattingly offers private college preparatory courses designed to impart skills, knowledge, and insight to students as they enter a conservatory or university school of music.

 

Potential candidates can choose to study anywhere from several years in advance of beginning collegiate studies, to the summer prior to entering. Dr. Mattingly specializes in helping candidates prepare audition material for admission to specific music programs such as the University of North Texas, Frost School of Music, Berklee College of Music, and the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California.

Dr. Mattingly offers one-on-one in-person studio lessons, remote instruction, and even prerecorded video lessons for all skill levels and for most musical styles.
